July 1st was officially my first day in my new life living in Lagos, Nigeria. For all of those who don't know how I ended up here on the other side of the world, let's go back in a time for a second.

It was the start of August and after months of no dating my girlfriend and I agreed I should go on 3 dates before summer ending. Lets say the first was terrible , the second was a nightmare and well last but not least third was a winner.

It was instant connection during dinner and then we went dancing together and danced all night like we were the only two there. We stayed up all night long I had to cancel my photo shoot I had planned for the next day.

We ended up meeting for a second date that following night and then never really were apart. I didn't really expect too much since I had plan a month trip for my birthday in Africa and was sure so early into meeting things would fizzle out when I was gone. I could have never been so wrong. I ended up spending hundred of dollars to talk to him when ever I had the chance. I was even texting in the middle of the desert because I was missing him. I was home sick for the first time in my life.

The day I arrived back from my trip he picked me up from the airport and then we went back to his house that night and I never left. We were inseparable. We've been tested since we meet with me getting super sick from my trip for 3-4 weeks and then on Christmas eve I fell and broke my shoulder and during all of this was the looming realization that he was always leaving and I never really knew when. Originally we was suppose to leave when I was in Africa and he postponed to be with me.

Fast forward to April that day had finally come and we could no longer postpone. We sat at the airport with our song on repeat and held each other and even slow danced before saying our good byes. Neither one of one knew what we had gotten our selves into and when we would see each other next. It wasn't till October later that year I came to Nigeria to visit him and one day when we were walking along the beach he asked me to move with him to start our lives together.

Over a year of doing long distance I was packing up my apartment and giving my notices. I sold all my furniture and put the rest of my belongings in storage and bought a one way ticket. A small town island girl was now moving to the largest city in Africa.

"The cost of not following your heart,

is spending the rest of your life wishing you had."

If you asked me two years ago where do you see yourself I would have never guessed. I took a leap to follow the man I love across the world and here I am. This will be all about my daily life and our times exploring. A glimpse into a completely different culture and environment.
